Democrats have always wanted this.
California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom ruthlessly attacked the 2nd Amendment after and said that it is “becoming a suicide pact” after the recent shooting that took place in the state this weekend.
According to Fox, Newsom’s comments came after the mass shooting in Monterey Park that left 11 people dead.
“Nothing about this is surprising. Everything about this is infuriating,” Newsom said with anger in his voice.
Newsom’s anger seems misplaced. California has some of the strictest gun laws compared to the rest of the country. However, instead of pointing the finger at his own state’s constitution he decided to attack the bill of rights.
“I mean, the Second Amendment is becoming a suicide pact,” said Newsom.
CBS’ Norah O’Donnell then asked, “But there’s many people in this country that support the Second Amendment and are lawful gun owners.”
Newsom responded, “Yeah, I have great respect- I have no ideological opposition to someone who is reasonably and responsibly owning firearms and getting background checks and being trained.”
It’s important to know that Newsom could be running for the presidency in 2024. President Biden is no better when it comes to gun rights however many Americans see Newsom as a different type of beast when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.
