This would be an absolute nightmare.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) has put forward a scenario where, if his theory about President Biden exiting the 2024 race were to materialize, Democrats might consider Michelle Obama as a potential presidential nominee. Cruz, the host of the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast, shared his thoughts on Monday, suggesting that Biden could withdraw from the race in August 2024.

According to The Hill, in Cruz’s viewpoint, the most plausible yet concerning scenario involves Democratic party leaders abandoning Joe Biden and introducing Michelle Obama as an alternative candidate. He expressed his concerns about this possibility, emphasizing its seriousness.

Cruz argued that selecting the former first lady as the Democratic nominee could be a unifying decision for the party. He believed that choosing a Black woman like Michelle Obama would not cause upheaval within the party or alienate African American women, a crucial constituency. Cruz went further to assert that Michelle Obama would likely receive more support from Democrats than any other potential replacement for Biden, including Vice President Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, or Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

According to Cruz, Michelle Obama’s unique position as a former first lady would allow her to transcend the competition and present herself as a unifying figure, telling the other contenders to vie for the nomination next time around. He believed this approach would offer a unifying solution for Democrats.

Cruz also noted that he didn’t believe Michelle Obama had a strong desire to run for the presidency.

However, it is crucial to note that the likelihood of Michelle Obama becoming the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election remains extremely low, despite Cruz’s speculations. Michelle Obama has consistently stated her lack of interest in running for the presidency.
