Is the GOP moving on from Trump?
Some of the Republican Party’s largest donors are now looking past former President Donald Trump because of the Jan. 6 hearings and instead are looking at other candidates such as Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence and others.
According to CNBC, longtime GOP fundraiser Eric Levine explained, “Donors are very concerned that Trump is the one Republican who can lose in 2024. I think donors were already moving away from Trump.”
Many of these high profile donors who have asked to remain unnamed because they don’t want Trump to know who they are, believe that the Jan. 6 hearings have damaged Trump and Democrats will take advantage of that in 2024.
Now it seems like the top donors who once supported Trump are now ready to ditch him for candidates that Trump was initially responsible for getting elected! Conservative voters are furious about this. How could top donors in the GOP just be ready to kick Trump to the curb like this?
These top donors are now looking at candidates such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark instead.
While Republican voters may be loyal its become very clear that top GOP donors aren’t as loyal as we once thought. Trump was single-handedly responsible for shaping the Republican Party into what it is today.
