Lindsey Graham Exposes Trump’s Medicaid Plan

Here’s what Trump wants to do with medicaid.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is pushing back hard on misleading media spin about President Trump’s landmark “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Despite the mainstream headlines, Graham says the truth is simple: Medicaid isn’t being cut — it’s being rescued.

In a Sunday interview on ABC’s This Week, Graham responded to concerns from Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), who opposed the bill and warned it could impact Medicaid recipients in his state.

“I respect Senator Tillis,” Graham said. “But here’s the reality the American people need to hear: Medicaid has exploded by 50% in just five years. At this rate, it’s on track to overwhelm Medicare.”

Graham made it clear — there are no cuts to Medicaid. Instead, the plan Trump supports slows its runaway growth: capping it at 6% annually for the next two years, then reducing that to 4% going forward.

“This is not about slashing benefits — it’s about saving the system,” Graham said. “We’re $37 trillion in debt. If we don’t act now, we may not have Medicare or Medicaid for anyone.”

The senator also addressed President Trump’s frustration with Tillis, who could now face a primary challenge. Graham, who has had his own share of fiery exchanges with Trump, brushed it off.

“President Trump runs hot — but he also forgives,” he said. “What matters is that we’re doing what Democrats never will: taking real action to protect seniors and stop wasteful spending.”

The Senate barely advanced the sweeping 1,000-page bill on Saturday — a major victory for conservatives and for President Trump’s America First agenda. The legislation includes:

  • Extension of Trump’s middle-class tax cuts
  • Tough new border security measures
  • Historic spending caps on runaway programs like Medicaid
  • Energy independence initiatives
  • Pro-growth reforms to revive the U.S. economy

Graham’s message was clear: Trump is doing what Biden and the Democrats won’t — tackling America’s debt crisis before it’s too late.
