Here’s what Melania had to say.

First Lady Melania Trump is opening up about the intense personal and political pressure her family faced during the years between her husband’s presidencies—pressure she described as “very challenging” and deeply disruptive to family life.

Speaking Friday on the Brian Kilmeade Show, Melania Trump reflected on the emotional toll of constant investigations, legal battles, and public scrutiny directed at her husband and their family.

“We went through a lot as a family,” Melania said. “You have to handle a great deal. You must remain very strong, very focused, and grounded.”

During the Biden administration, Donald Trump faced multiple criminal cases and indictments—actions many conservatives argue were politically driven. One of the most controversial moments came in August 2022, when federal agents conducted a search of the Trump family’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago.

Melania previously described the FBI search as an invasion of privacy, saying agents went through her personal belongings and private space—an experience she said left a lasting impact.

Despite the unprecedented legal and political pressure, the first lady said she stood firmly behind her husband’s decision to seek a return to the White House, believing the nation had suffered under failed leadership.

“I supported him,” she said. “He wanted to run again, and I knew the country over the last four years was in very bad shape. America needed change.”

Since President Trump’s return to office, Melania has taken on a more active public presence while continuing to work quietly behind the scenes. She said her mission is to use her position to help others pursue a better life, particularly children affected by conflict and instability.

Her humanitarian efforts have included involvement in international discussions that helped reunite 15 Ukrainian children with their families. According to Melania, communication on the issue remains ongoing.

“We are still in contact and working toward reunifying more children,” she said, adding that she hopes to see additional success in the near future.

Behind closed doors, Melania said she regularly offers advice to her husband, emphasizing the importance of communication during times of national and personal pressure.

“Sometimes he listens, sometimes he doesn’t,” she said. “But open communication in a relationship is very important—especially when so much is at stake.”
