The liberal media wants to make Americans believe they are honest and fair. However, this clearly proves otherwise.
CNN hosts Erin Burnett and network data analyst Harry Enten openly cast doubt this week on the commercial prospects of a new biographical documentary focused on First Lady Melania Trump, suggesting the film may struggle to find an audience despite its high-profile backing.
The documentary, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Brett Ratner, recently received a private screening at the White House. It is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release this weekend.
According to figures discussed on CNN, the Melania Trump documentary carries an estimated $40 million production budget, with an additional $35 million reportedly spent on marketing and promotion, bringing the total investment close to $75 million.
During Tuesday night’s broadcast of CNN’s OutFront, Burnett pointed to early ticket sales data that she said does not currently indicate a strong box-office debut, despite President Donald Trump publicly stating that tickets are selling quickly.
Enten responded by questioning the president’s optimism, saying he does not believe the available data supports expectations of a successful opening weekend.
The CNN analyst referenced industry forecasting models and prediction markets, suggesting there is a significant probability the documentary could receive a low critics’ score. He also cited early projections estimating that the film may earn between $1 million and $5 million during its opening weekend.
Enten compared those figures to Fahrenheit 9/11, which remains the highest-grossing documentary in U.S. history. That film earned the inflation-adjusted equivalent of more than $40 million in its opening weekend, a benchmark the Melania Trump documentary is unlikely to approach, according to CNN’s analysis.
Burnett added that unusually large ticket purchases would likely attract public scrutiny, implying that attempts to artificially inflate box-office numbers would be noticeable. Enten agreed, stating that even significant ticket-buying efforts would be unlikely to change the overall financial outcome.
The discussion then shifted to the scale of Amazon’s investment. Enten emphasized that the reported $75 million total cost represents a substantial financial commitment for a documentary film, particularly one facing modest opening projections.
Despite CNN’s skepticism, the White House screening reportedly drew prominent corporate leaders, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Apple CEO Tim Cook, highlighting the film’s high-level industry interest.
Enten concluded the segment by remarking that while the Melania Trump documentary may face challenges at the box office, Amazon’s leadership continues to perform well during President Trump’s current term in office.
For many viewers, the segment reinforced broader concerns about how legacy media outlets cover projects connected to the Trump family, particularly those involving Melania Trump, who has generally maintained a limited public presence.
