Things need to change and change fast!
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President JD Vance delivered a powerful pro-law enforcement speech Thursday, reaffirming the Trump administration’s unwavering support for America’s police officers while blasting liberal city leaders and “sanctuary” policies that endanger communities.
Speaking at the 44th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service in the nation’s capital, Vance called out far-left politicians who, he said, have abandoned common sense and public safety.
“This administration has zero tolerance for radical efforts to defund or dismantle our law enforcement,” said Vance. “We support our police, we honor our heroes, and we will never let crime take over our streets.”
Sanctuary Cities on Notice: Trump Executive Order Enforces Accountability
Just weeks ago, President Donald J. Trump signed a game-changing executive order that could pull federal funding from states and cities that refuse to cooperate on immigration enforcement. Sanctuary jurisdictions now face real consequences if they continue putting illegal immigrants above law-abiding American citizens.
The executive order also authorizes Attorney General Pam Bondi and other top officials to boost officer salaries and fund legal protection for police facing politically motivated attacks.
“Unlike the failed leadership of the past, we are delivering real consequences for those who defy immigration law and embolden criminal behavior,” said Vance.
Honoring the Fallen: A Nation Remembers Its Heroes
Vice President Vance honored the lives of fallen officers, including David Lee, a decorated St. Louis police veteran who was tragically killed by an illegal immigrant driving under the influence. The story underscores the deadly consequences of weak immigration enforcement and sanctuary policies.
Also remembered was Larry Henderson, a retired deputy from Ohio who was struck and killed while directing traffic near the University of Cincinnati.
“Deputy Henderson died a hero,” Vance said. “But his death was not just a tragedy—it was the result of leadership failure in this country that’s demonized our law enforcement.”
The suspect, Rodney Hinton, is now charged with aggravated murder. His son, a suspect in a stolen vehicle case, had been shot by police after allegedly fleeing with a weapon.
Vance Rips Radical Prosecutors and Billionaire-Backed Leftists
Vance didn’t hold back. He blasted soft-on-crime prosecutors funded by out-of-state billionaires who, he said, are letting violent criminals walk free.
“These prosecutors refuse to enforce the law,” said Vance. “And last November, the American people ended the ‘defund the police’ movement—and they used Donald J. Trump to do it.”
New Legislation: Tougher Penalties for Criminals Who Target Officers
In honor of Deputy Henderson, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) has introduced new legislation to quadruple the minimum sentence for assaulting a federal officer—from 8 years to 20 years. The bill is seen as a major step forward in protecting law enforcement nationwide.
