ICE is already getting to work.
On President Donald Trump’s first full day in office, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched a major operation, arresting 308 illegal immigrants nationwide, including violent criminals. The January 21st raids were a clear message that the Trump administration would prioritize the safety of American citizens by targeting dangerous individuals residing illegally in the U.S.
Led by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division, the multi-agency sweep took place in several sanctuary cities, including Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Baltimore, and Miami. These areas have long been criticized for shielding illegal immigrants from federal immigration laws. However, under President Trump’s leadership, this enforcement action demonstrated that the federal government would not tolerate this disregard for the rule of law.
Among those arrested was 56-year-old Edward Marlon Rauda-Aldnada, an El Salvadoran national and registered sex offender who was caught in Silver Spring, Maryland. In Colorado, ICE apprehended Jose Barco-Chirino, a Venezuelan man previously convicted of attempted murder, felony menacing, and other serious offenses. His detention highlights the importance of deporting individuals who pose significant threats to public safety.
ICE also detained 20-year-old Miguel Andres-Mateo, a Guatemalan national in Georgia, who had been convicted of driving under the influence and had already been ordered removed from the country years earlier. In Philadelphia, 22-year-old Kodir Mazhidov, a Tajikistani man, was taken into custody for violating his release terms after being arrested for reckless driving and endangering others. In Seattle, Mexican national Victorino Gaytan-Hernandez was arrested after being convicted of sexually abusing a minor.
The crackdown on criminal aliens is just the beginning of President Trump’s broader agenda to protect American communities. As former ICE Director Tom Homan emphasized, there are still hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in the country who pose a danger to public safety. His commitment to enforcing immigration laws and deporting criminal migrants, particularly in sanctuary cities, demonstrates the administration’s resolve to ensure the security of American citizens.
Meanwhile, President Trump is reinforcing border security by deploying 1,500 additional active-duty troops to the southern border. This move is part of his administration’s efforts to seal off illegal crossings and prevent more dangerous individuals from entering the U.S. Under Trump’s leadership, the Department of Defense is taking homeland security seriously, fulfilling a key campaign promise to the American people.
This multi-pronged approach—deporting criminals and securing the border—demonstrates that President Trump is keeping his promise to put America first and protect the safety and security of all citizens. As the new administration moves forward, Americans can be confident that the safety of their communities remains a top priority.
