Trump wants results and not more excuses.
President Donald Trump is calling for the impeachment of Chicago’s Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson, after yet another weekend of chaos in the crime-ravaged city.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined the president in condemning Johnson’s leadership, calling him “delusional” and accusing him of letting Chicago collapse into what she described as a “war zone.”
“This mayor has a less than six percent approval rating,” Noem said Sunday on Fox & Friends Weekend. “He’s failed his people, failed to protect victims, and refuses to stand up to the criminals destroying his city. We’re going to keep doing our job every single day.”
Trump Steps In to Restore Law and Order
After months of escalating lawlessness, President Trump authorized the deployment of the Illinois National Guard to reinforce federal officers in Chicago — a move opposed by both Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and Mayor Johnson.
The deployment followed a shocking attack on Border Patrol agents on Chicago’s South Side. Agents were surrounded and rammed by vehicles before opening fire in self-defense, wounding a woman later found to be armed.
While Trump took swift action to stabilize the situation, Johnson went on MSNBC to accuse the Trump administration of “unconstitutional overreach.”
Noem: “Chicago Has Become a War Zone”
Visiting the city herself, Noem met with law enforcement officers who say they’ve been blocked by city officials and denied even basic access to facilities like public restrooms.
“He’s giving criminals air cover,” Noem warned. “There should be real consequences for leaders who knowingly lie about what’s happening on the ground. Chicago is a war zone — and he’s pretending everything’s fine while people’s lives are being destroyed.”
According to multiple polls, Johnson’s approval ratings range from 6% to 26%, with residents overwhelmingly blaming his soft-on-crime policies for the city’s decline.
Johnson Doubles Down, Trump Pushes Back
Instead of admitting failure, Johnson lashed out — accusing the Trump administration of being “delusional” and “dangerous.”
“This president has worked hard to relitigate the Civil War,” Johnson claimed. “We’re not going to stand for it.”
But Trump supporters say the president is simply doing what Democrat leaders refuse to — protecting American families from violence, chaos, and open defiance of the law.
Locals Thank Federal Officers
Residents across Chicago’s South and West Sides have expressed relief and gratitude for the federal officers now patrolling their neighborhoods. Many say it’s the first time they’ve felt safe in years.
“People here are thanking the agents for showing up,” one officer told Fox News. “They’re tired of being ignored by their own mayor.”
The Bottom Line
With crime surging, illegal immigration overwhelming sanctuary cities, and federal officers under attack, President Trump and Secretary Noem say it’s time for accountability.
“Leaders like Brandon Johnson have failed their citizens and betrayed their oaths,” Noem said. “If he won’t step down — he should be impeached.”
As Trump restores order and strengthens America’s cities, Chicago has become the latest example of what happens when liberal leadership meets real-world consequences.
