Here’s what Trump could do.

President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing one of the largest single-day clemency actions of his second term as the White House reviews a new list of potential pardons ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebration.

According to multiple reports, Trump has expressed interest in granting approximately 250 pardons to commemorate the nation’s historic milestone, with final decisions expected to come directly from the president.

Trump Reviews New Clemency List

Sources familiar with the discussions say Trump met with advisers Friday to review recommendations from his pardon team. While no official list has been released, the proposed clemency package reportedly includes several individuals convicted of environmental and emissions-related offenses.

CBS News correspondent Jennifer Jacobs reported that the president is considering a slate of pardon recommendations involving clean air and emissions violations, while also weighing other possible acts of executive clemency.

As with every pardon decision, the White House emphasized that the final authority rests solely with President Trump.

A White House official told CBS News that Trump is “the ultimate decider” when it comes to all clemency actions.

Celebrity Pardons Also Draw Attention

Beyond the official recommendations, reports indicate Trump has privately discussed the possibility of pardoning several high-profile public figures.

Among the names that have surfaced is music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs. However, sources familiar with the discussions said celebrity names were not expected to appear on the formal recommendation list presented by White House advisers.

Earlier this year, Trump acknowledged that Combs had previously reached out seeking a presidential pardon but said he was not actively considering such a request at that time.

Other High-Profile Names Reportedly Under Review

According to The Atlantic, several other well-known individuals could also receive consideration for executive clemency.

Among the names reportedly under discussion were Malaysian financier Jho Low, who is still wanted in connection with the multibillion-dollar 1MDB corruption scandal; former Fugees rapper Pras Michel, who was convicted on charges stemming from a lobbying scheme linked to Low; and OneTaste co-founder Nicole Daedone, who received a sentence in a forced-labor conspiracy case.

The White House has not confirmed whether any of those individuals will ultimately receive pardons.

Debate Builds Inside Conservative Circles

News of the potential pardon list has sparked discussion among many conservatives, particularly over reports that wealthy business figures and celebrities could be included.

LindellTV broadcaster Emerald Robinson publicly questioned whether presidential clemency should be extended to certain high-profile individuals, arguing that fame and financial success alone should not justify receiving a pardon.

The reports have fueled broader debate over how executive clemency should be used and who deserves a second chance under the Constitution.

Trump Has Already Used His Pardon Authority Extensively

Since returning to the White House, Trump has made broad use of his constitutional pardon powers.

Early in his second term, he granted pardons or commuted the sentences of nearly 1,600 individuals connected to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Since those actions, public records show that some recipients have later faced additional criminal charges. Reported offenses have ranged from trespassing and property crimes to more serious allegations including fraud, stalking, violent offenses, and other felony charges.

Supporters argue the president was correcting what they viewed as politically motivated prosecutions, while critics contend that some later arrests have renewed scrutiny of large-scale clemency decisions.

Final Decisions Could Come Soon

With America celebrating its 250th birthday, attention is now focused on whether Trump will move forward with one of the most significant rounds of presidential pardons of his current term.

No official list has been released, and the White House has not confirmed the final recipients. Any clemency actions will ultimately depend on President Trump’s personal approval, with announcements expected once the review process is complete.
