Here’s what happened…
Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, will not be representing Florida as a delegate at the Republican National Convention, according to a statement from his mother’s office released on Friday.
Melania Trump’s office conveyed that while Barron was grateful for the opportunity extended by the Florida Republican Party, he must respectfully decline due to prior commitments.
The announcement came after Republican Party of Florida chairman Evan Power had earlier indicated that Barron, an 18-year-old high school senior, would be among the at-large delegates from Florida at the convention, where his father is expected to be officially nominated as the GOP’s presidential candidate for the upcoming general election in November.
When questioned about Barron’s involvement in the Florida delegation during an interview on “Kayal and Company” on Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, Donald Trump mentioned Barron’s interest in politics and his academic achievements, stating that Barron occasionally provides him with advice, jokingly saying, “Dad, this is what you have to do.”
Barron Trump, who turned 18 in March, is set to graduate from high school the following week. The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York has arranged for no court proceedings on May 17, allowing Trump to attend his son’s graduation.
While Barron will not be participating, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany, are among those included in the Florida delegation for the convention, scheduled to take place in Milwaukee from July 15 to July 18.
