Biden Jokes After Horrific Tragedy

Biden has no sympathy.

On Monday, President Biden was blasted over his response to the Nashville school shooting after he joked that the only reason he attended the event was that ice cream would be handed out before the tragedy of what happened would be discussed. The tragedy left three adults and three children at the elementary school dead earlier that day.

Biden from the White House’s East Room made his first public appearance since a 28-year-old woman entered the Christian private school in Nashville and killed the three students and three teachers. Biden started his speech by stating, “My name is Joe Biden. I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband,” and then he proceeded to speak about his ice cream preferences by stating “I eat Jeni’s ice cream — chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream.” He then joked that he had a full refrigerator of ice cream upstairs.

Biden then proceeded to address the shooting by calling it “sick” and “heartbreaking” while calling for Congress to take action against gun violence.

However, many were critical of Biden’s first few comments, with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie telling Fox News on Monday that Biden had completely “misunderstood the moment.” He added that this was no way to address the situation when there were people and parents mourning over what had happened.

According to authorities a female with two “assault-style” rifles and a pistol entered the school of around 200 students and killed three of the students and three adults.
