Remember when Biden says he had nothing to do with this?
Under President Biden, White House officials played a key role in assisting the FBI’s investigation into former President Donald Trump during the 2020 elections, according to documents revealed by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). These disclosures, made public on Friday, show that the FBI was given access to government-issued cellphones belonging to both President Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence. This action was part of the FBI’s “Arctic Frost” investigation, which critics argue was improperly initiated by anti-Trump forces within the agency, notably former Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault.
Grassley and Johnson, both staunch conservatives, called for transparency and accountability, emphasizing the public’s right to know the full extent of the misconduct within the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI that led to the investigation. In their letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, they expressed concerns about the resources and personnel involved in what they see as a politically motivated effort to target President Trump.
According to the documents, the FBI did not initially seek a warrant before taking possession of Trump and Pence’s phones, which were provided by Biden’s White House counsel. An email dated May 4, 2022, reveals that the FBI took control of the phones without proper legal authorization, planning to obtain warrants later to search the devices. This was confirmed in a follow-up email where the FBI stated that the phones would not be processed until the necessary search warrants were in place.
Sources familiar with the investigation have claimed that the Biden White House fully cooperated with the FBI’s actions, suggesting the administration was actively involved in the process. The senators raised alarms over the significant taxpayer dollars spent on the investigation, citing one email in which the FBI requested $16,600 for travel expenses related to interviews and subpoenas. Grassley and Johnson are demanding a detailed accounting of the funds spent on “Arctic Frost” and have called for the full release of related documents by March 27.
These revelations point to what many conservatives view as a misuse of government power for partisan political purposes. As the investigation continued to snowball, it became a critical example of how the government, under Biden’s administration, allegedly weaponized its agencies against political opponents. The senators’ disclosures add fuel to the growing concerns over the integrity and neutrality of federal agencies like the FBI.
