Democrats have let crime run rampant and now they are facing the consequences for their actions.
A twenty year old man was apprehended for intruding into Gracie Mansion, the main residence of NYC Mayor Eric Adams, and robbing a Christmas ornament on New Year’s Day. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 1 when Michael Aromando, a resident of the Upper East Side, jumped a fence to gain access to the property, located on Manhattan’s East River.
Around 4:30 a.m., Aromando walked through the grounds and into the mansion itself. Once inside, he proceeded to the 2nd floor, where he was seen by a police officer in a restroom near several bedrooms. The officer acted swiftly, and the suspect was apprehended shortly after entering the home.
During his interrogation, Aromando confessed to taking the ornament and even showed authorities a video he had filmed of himself removing it from a drawer. He also surrendered a few additional items, although their details were not specified in the complaint. Despite the strange nature of the crime, police did not consider Aromando a significant threat.
At the time of the break-in, Mayor Eric Adams was not at the residence, as he was in Times Square celebrating the arrival of the new year. The incident, though minor in scope, raises concerns about security at the mayor’s official home. A spokesperson for Adams confirmed that he was away, and sources close to the investigation stated that Aromando was not armed or dangerous.
Aromando, who was arrested and charged with burglary, appeared in Manhattan court the following day. He was ordered to avoid Adams’ residence as part of his bail conditions. This break-in, while seemingly harmless, underscores the vulnerabilities in securing high-profile government buildings, even when the threat appears minimal.
