Cheney Attacks Trump Again

Cheney is shockingly doubling down.

Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) recently responded to former President Donald Trump’s criticism after President Biden awarded her and Representative Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) the Presidential Citizens Medal. Cheney, who served as the vice chair of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th, 2021, Capitol riot, was honored for her efforts in that role as well as her overall seven years in Congress. Thompson, who chaired the committee, received the award for his dedication to protecting the U.S. Constitution.

Trump, as expected, reacted angrily to the recognition, accusing Biden of awarding “fake medals” to Cheney and Thompson. He suggested that Cheney’s award was purely a result of her opposition to him, asserting that her anti-Trump stance was the driving factor behind the honor.

In response, Cheney fired back, rejecting Trump’s attempts to rewrite history. She reminded him of the many baseless claims he made about the 2020 election, including his unfounded accusations of voter fraud. Cheney pointed out that numerous members of Trump’s legal team had been sanctioned or disbarred for their efforts to challenge the election results, highlighting the failure of those claims in court. She also noted that Trump’s own campaign aides and White House staff had testified against him in various investigations.

Additionally, Cheney referenced former V.P. Pence’s refusal to agree to Trump’s demands to stop the certification of the 2020 election outcome. Pence’s decision was crucial in upholding the integrity of the electoral process and preventing an unconstitutional attempt to overturn the will of the American people.

In closing, Cheney warned that as Trump seeks a return to the White House, the American people must reject his ongoing falsehoods and stand firm in defending the principles that protect the nation’s democracy. She urged Republicans and Americans alike to remember the importance of safeguarding the Constitution and to remain vigilant against any threats to the Republic.
