No more nonsense and wasteful spending.
President Donald Trump recently outlined his plans to enlist the help of tech mogul Elon Musk to investigate wasteful spending in the federal government, specifically targeting the Education and Defense Departments. In a special interview with Fox News political anchor Bret Baier, Trump explained how Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has become a trusted ally in his fight against government inefficiency.
“He’s not doing this for personal gain. I’m not sure how he even finds the time for it,” Trump remarked, expressing his admiration for Musk’s dedication to the cause.
The President shared that he would soon direct Musk to conduct a thorough audit of the Department of Education, where Trump believes there is significant waste. Following that, Trump intends to turn his attention to the military, confident that billions, if not hundreds of billions, of taxpayer dollars are being squandered due to fraud and mismanagement.
Trump’s comments came in advance of a special broadcast of the interview, which is set to air just hours before the Super Bowl LIX. In the conversation, Trump discussed the initial steps of his administration’s commitment to rooting out wasteful spending and restoring fiscal responsibility. One of the first major initiatives has been the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to hold federal agencies accountable for their spending habits.
While these efforts are being met with resistance from some corners of the political spectrum, including a group of House Democrats who recently attempted to enter the Department of Education in protest, Trump remains steadfast in his approach. His administration and many Republicans continue to push for major reforms, including the potential dissolution of the Department of Education, believing that states are better equipped to oversee education.
Trump’s commitment to eliminating wasteful spending is a central part of his appeal to the American people. As he told Baier, “The people want me to find the waste, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
Trump’s leadership and Musk’s involvement in this mission could signal a major shift in how the federal government operates, with an emphasis on accountability and efficiency. The full interview will be featured during the February 10th edition of Special Report with Bret Baier, continuing the conversation on these crucial issues.
