Here’s what Trump is actually doing.
President Donald Trump has made it clear that he intends to restore the integrity and tradition of our military academies by taking strong action against the “woke leftist ideologues” who have increasingly infiltrated these institutions in recent years. On Monday, Trump announced he would be dismissing members of the Boards of Visitors at the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard Academies, a bold move aimed at putting an end to the radical left’s influence on our military.
The Boards of Visitors, which are made up of presidential, congressional, and vice-presidential appointees, provide advice on the operation of these prestigious institutions. But, as Trump noted, these boards have been increasingly compromised by individuals pushing a liberal agenda that undermines the core values of our military. By removing these members and appointing new individuals who truly support the mission of our armed forces, Trump is making it clear that our military academies will be led by those who understand what it takes to keep America strong.
During the Biden administration, a similar purge took place. In September 2021, President Biden removed Trump’s appointees from the Boards of Visitors, replacing them with individuals more aligned with his vision for the military. This move was part of a broader effort to reshape the military in a way that reflects the liberal policies of the current administration.
As we’ve seen, the left’s agenda has crept into our military academies, with moves like the Merchant Marine Academy’s decision to allow exemptions for midshipmen undergoing gender transitions and West Point’s controversial decision to drop its iconic motto, “Duty, Honor, Country.” These actions only serve to dilute the fundamental principles our military was built on.
Trump’s efforts, including several recent executive orders addressing key issues such as the removal of transgender service members, the end of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and the reinstatement of soldiers who were dismissed over COVID-19 vaccine mandates, signal a firm commitment to restoring the honor, strength, and patriotism of our armed forces. His push to “Make the Military Academies GREAT AGAIN” is a reminder that America’s military strength is tied to the values of duty, honor, and country, not the divisive politics of the left.
