Trump got the last laugh.
President Donald Trump took a jab at pop sensation Taylor Swift on social media following Super Bowl LIX, poking fun at the warm reception he received at the game compared to the boos Swift faced from Eagles fans.
Trump took to Truth Social, sharing his thoughts on the situation with characteristic boldness. “The only person that had a worse night than the Chiefs was Swift. She was literally BOOED out the stadium. The MAGA movement is so unforgiving!” Trump wrote, reveling in the reactions of the crowd.
Both Trump and Swift were present at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, each supporting their respective favorites. However, while Swift, who’s romantically linked to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was met with loud boos from Eagles fans when her image appeared on the Jumbotron, Trump was greeted with applause when he appeared on the big screen during Jon Batiste’s national anthem performance.
Trump, ever the showman, didn’t stick around for the full game. Predicting a Chiefs victory, he made his exit early as the Eagles dominated with a 24-0 halftime lead, but not before sharing a post about the contrast in receptions. He re-shared a clip from Libs of TikTok comparing his enthusiastic applause to Swift’s cold reception, adding, “Trump received massive applause at the Super Bowl while Swift got totally booed. – Our world is healing!”
Despite their differences, Trump has long been supportive of Kelce and the Chiefs, especially after Kelce’s family made their MAGA allegiance clear. The president was even seen chatting with Mahomes’ family members before the game. As for Swift, the tension between her and Trump dates back to her endorsement of Kamala Harris, a move that angered the former president, who later expressed his disdain for the pop star.
While Swift has largely ignored Trump’s comments, the Super Bowl showdown highlighted the divide between Trump’s loyal supporters and celebrities who back his political rivals. Whether in the stadium or on social media, Trump always finds a way to keep the spotlight firmly on him, even at the expense of a celebrity who’s known for making headlines herself.
