Senate Republicans Threaten Trump

Is the Deep State Judiciary Blocking Trump’s Agenda?

A new showdown is brewing in Washington — and it’s exposing a major divide inside the Republican Party.

Obama-Appointed Judge Blocks Deportation of Alleged Gang Members

Federal Judge James Boasberg, appointed by Barack Obama, has sparked outrage among conservatives after blocking President Trump’s move to deport over 200 alleged Venezuelan gang members. The judge claimed they had a right to hearings — even under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.

Trump didn’t hold back. He demanded Boasberg be impeached for what many see as blatant judicial overreach.

Now, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has taken action — filing articles of impeachment. Over 20 House Republicans are backing him.

Speaker Mike Johnson: ‘We Can Eliminate Courts That Undermine the Will of the People’

Speaker Mike Johnson isn’t just talking about impeachment. He’s floated a bold plan to defund or eliminate entire federal courts that obstruct the conservative agenda.

“We control the purse strings,” Johnson said. “If these courts think they’re untouchable, they’ve got another thing coming.”

But Senate Republicans Are Warning: Not So Fast

Despite growing grassroots support, GOP leaders in the Senate are urging caution. Senators like John Cornyn (R-TX), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) say there simply aren’t enough votes to remove a judge through impeachment.

“It’s not going to happen,” Cornyn said bluntly.

To convict a federal judge, Republicans would need two-thirds of the Senate — including 14 Democrats. That’s a tough sell, even with control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

Chief Justice Roberts Defends Boasberg — But Critics Say the Courts Are Out of Control

Chief Justice John Roberts stepped in to defend Boasberg, warning that impeachment should never be used just because a judge’s opinion is unpopular.

But for many Americans, that defense falls flat.

Why should unelected judges be able to override the president’s constitutional authority — especially when national security is on the line?

Conservatives Eye New Solution: Strip Judges of Nationwide Power

House Republicans have another weapon: legislation.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) introduced the No Rogue Rulings Act, which would stop district judges like Boasberg from issuing sweeping nationwide injunctions. The bill has already passed the House Judiciary Committee and could hit the House floor this week.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is ready to move a similar bill in the Senate. A hearing is scheduled for April 2 to address what Grassley calls a “bipartisan problem” of judicial abuse.

What Really Happened with the Deportation Flights?

Even after Boasberg ordered the Trump administration to halt two deportation flights, the planes allegedly kept going — touching down in El Salvador after stopping in Honduras. The judge has vowed to investigate who gave the green light, setting up yet another confrontation between the judiciary and the Trump administration.

Is this the kind of power federal judges should have?

Sen. Kennedy Sounds the Alarm: ‘Don’t Undermine the Courts – Reform Them’

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) warns against taking a page from the Biden playbook by defunding courts or packing the bench. But even he agrees that conservatives have every right to challenge activist judges through the legal process.

“You don’t have to sit there and take it,” Kennedy said. “But you also don’t get to ignore the law.”

The Bottom Line: Trump’s Battle with the Courts Is Far From Over

With rising support from conservative voters — and major allies like Elon Musk backing efforts to downsize the bloated federal bureaucracy — the fight over judicial power is heating up.

Can Congress rein in activist judges without fracturing the GOP? Or will Trump’s allies need to go scorched earth to drain the swamp once and for all?

Stay tuned. This battle could shape the future of the judiciary — and the next four years of the Trump presidency.
