The tides are shifting.
In an expected turn of events, Arkansas Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson is now claiming that he will do everything in his power to ensure Donald Trump does not gain the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.
According to Daily Wire, Governor Hutchinson who is considering running for the presidency himself told ABC this week about his thoughts about former President Donald Trump.
During his interview Hutchinson stated, “I’m going to do everything that we can to make sure there’s alternatives, that he is not the nominee. And, of course, that’s a – all depends upon who else is out there. But I do not believe that Donald Trump should be the next president of the United States.”
Hutchinson believes that Trump’s involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot “disqualifies” him from holding the presidency ever again.
Governor Hutchinson also argued that Trump and his entire brand doesn’t “define” what the Republican Party is.
When asked if about his own 2024 presidential run, Hutchinson responded, “I’m going to Iowa later this month. I’m excited about that. But no decision has been made now. And we can’t make a decision until a little bit later. But I want to be a part of the solutions for America. I want to showcase that there – you can have leaders that address problems and offer solutions and ideas.”
