Kamala Chickens Out Of Debate?

What is Kamala so scared of?

Former President Donald Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of attempting to avoid the upcoming presidential debate scheduled for September 10 by demanding that the Republican nominee participate under conditions that include a “live” microphone for both candidates. During a recent event at a Vietnamese restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, Trump asserted that Harris is looking for an excuse to dodge the debate because she is not confident in her debating skills.

“The reality is, Kamala Harris doesn’t want to face me in a debate,” Trump stated. “She knows she’s not a strong debater and lacks the necessary intelligence to handle a debate properly. That’s why she’s trying to make excuses.”

The dispute began when Brian Fallon, a senior communications adviser for Harris’s campaign, claimed that Harris had insisted on both candidates having their microphones active throughout the entire broadcast. Fallon suggested that Trump’s team is pushing for muted microphones because they doubt Trump’s ability to handle a debate format where he would need to maintain composure and present himself effectively for the full duration.

“The vice president is more than ready to address Trump’s persistent interruptions and misinformation head-on,” Fallon argued. “It’s time for Trump to stop hiding behind a muted microphone.”

In response, Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller accused the Harris camp of trying to alter the debate rules after Harris replaced President Biden as the top Democratic candidate. Miller emphasized that Trump’s team agreed to the debate terms that were initially set, including the use of muted microphones as was the case in the previous CNN debate.

“We have adhered to the agreed-upon terms,” Miller asserted. “If the Harris campaign isn’t confident in their candidate’s ability to perform without additional aids, that’s their issue. This is part of a pattern where the Harris camp avoids tough questions and tries to manipulate debate conditions to their advantage.”

Miller also criticized Harris’s lack of media engagements since she became the Democratic nominee and questioned whether she is genuinely prepared for the role of commander-in-chief.

Trump has also expressed skepticism about participating in the ABC debate, citing what he perceives as bias from the network. He suggested that NBC or CBS would be more suitable hosts and reiterated his concerns about ABC’s impartiality.

“The debate format should be fair and impartial,” Trump said. “I’m not planning any special preparation beyond being well-informed on the issues.”

This ongoing debate about debate conditions underscores the high stakes and intense scrutiny surrounding the upcoming presidential showdown.
