How Musk Humiliated GOP After Trump Fight

This was just petty.

A shocking political rift between tech mogul Elon Musk and President Donald Trump has left House Speaker Mike Johnson sending text messages into the void.

In an interview with Miranda Devine, Speaker Johnson (R-La.) revealed that a long, personal message he sent Musk amid their high-profile disagreement never reached its target—because Musk allegedly changed his phone number shortly after clashing with President Trump.

“I sent him a long text… and then his phone number changed,” Johnson explained. “After the blow-up, something clearly happened. I later realized I was sending messages into the ether.”

Trump’s Bill Sparks Major Backlash from Musk

The fallout came after President Trump proudly championed the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act—a bold legislative package focused on tax relief, deregulation, and slashing government waste.

At the time, Musk was serving as the public face of the Department of Government Efficiency, a Trump-created agency targeting bloated spending and bureaucratic corruption. However, after the bill passed the House, Musk shocked conservatives by launching a campaign against the legislation.

On X (formerly Twitter), Musk accused the bill of “ballooning the national debt” and urged GOP lawmakers to vote it down.

President Trump: Musk Opposed It for Self-Interest

President Trump didn’t hold back. He argued that Musk’s opposition was tied not to the debt—but to personal profits.

Specifically, Trump pointed to his administration’s termination of electric vehicle subsidies and California’s radical EV mandates—moves that directly impacted Tesla, Musk’s flagship company.

“We ended those EV handouts. That’s what this is really about,” Trump said during a June press event.

Indeed, on June 12, Trump signed resolutions eliminating federal mandates on electric vehicles and heavy diesel regulations, declaring:

“We’ve killed the California mandates—forever.”

Musk’s New Political Party?

In response, Musk hinted at forming a new political party, claiming he no longer trusted either Republicans or Democrats.

Speaker Johnson noted he had been keeping Musk updated for months, sharing legislative drafts and details through private texts. He had no reason to suspect a falling out until Musk went public.

“He was aware of the bill’s contents for a long time,” Johnson said. “We talked about it in depth. Then, suddenly, he went cold.”

Eventually, Johnson heard back from Musk—but only through a third party.

Trump Signs It Into Law – Economy Set to Soar

Despite Musk’s attacks, President Trump stood firm and signed the legislation into law on Independence Day, describing it as a turning point for America’s economy.

“This will be a rocket ship for the U.S. economy,” Trump said. “Middle-class Americans will finally get the tax relief they deserve.”

The Bottom Line

Elon Musk’s sudden U-turn shocked conservatives across the country. Once an ally, Musk now appears poised to challenge both parties—with whispers of a third-party bid.

Meanwhile, President Trump is charging full speed ahead, dismantling green mandates, cutting taxes, and pushing pro-growth legislation that’s energizing American businesses and families alike.

Will Musk’s new political ambitions fracture the GOP—or just fizzle out? Stay tuned.
