VIDEO: Newsom Crumbles Over Single Question

Newsom can’t handle unscripted questions and it shows.

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, seems to have everything under control in the state—so much so that he’s found the time to start his own podcast. Forget about the catastrophic wildfires, the increasing homelessness crisis, the mass exodus of residents fleeing the state, or the oppressive income tax rates—after all, creating content is a full-time job.

Newsom’s podcast, which he launched in February, is apparently his way of changing the conversation in California. It’s almost as though he’s trying to distract from the numerous issues plaguing his state. After all, he’s been quite busy with his own public appearances and, let’s not forget, that one time he picked up some trash (with cameras in tow).

In his first episode of This Is Gavin Newsom, he sat down with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, where they discussed the hot-button issue of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports—a topic that’s become one of the most divisive in America. Kirk raised a crucial question: should Newsom publicly state that biological males do not belong in women’s sports? After all, this is a stance supported by the vast majority of Americans. But in classic politician fashion, Newsom dodged the question, offering up a jumble of words without ever answering directly.

When Kirk pressed him on the case of a transgender high school athlete setting a new triple jump record in the girls’ category, Newsom danced around the issue. He acknowledged that it may be “unfair” but quickly shifted the focus to the supposed mental health struggles of transgender individuals, claiming they are more likely to experience depression and suicide.

This response perfectly highlights the absurdity of the liberal stance on this issue. Newsom seemed more concerned about showing “humility and grace” to transgender athletes than acknowledging the unfairness to the biological women being forced to compete against men. His failure to stand up for women in sports, and his prioritization of the feelings of transgender athletes over the rights of female athletes, is a reflection of the far-left’s misguided priorities.

The truth is, transgender athletes in women’s sports is a relatively small issue compared to the many serious problems facing the country today. Yet, the left insists on making it a point of contention, all because they can’t bring themselves to simply say, “men do not belong in women’s sports.” The real question is: why is Newsom—and the Democratic Party—so afraid to take a firm stand for fairness and protect the integrity of women’s sports?
