Newsom is pathetic for this.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is blaming President Donald Trump for a sluggish economy—despite the Biden administration’s failed economic record and growing concerns about inflation, job losses, and weak consumer confidence.
The July jobs report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) showed that U.S. employers added just 73,000 jobs, far below projections. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate climbed to 4.2%, and job gains for May and June were revised down by a combined 258,000 jobs.
Rather than acknowledge his own party’s economic failures, Newsom took to social media to accuse President Trump of “crashing the economy,” stating:
“These are the worst conditions we’ve faced since 2020. Don’t be misled by Donald Trump—he’s letting the American people down.”
But critics say Newsom is deflecting from California’s own economic decline—where soaring taxes, homelessness, crime, and overregulation have caused an exodus of businesses and middle-class families.
Trump Fires Back: “This Is a Political Hit Job”
In response, President Trump posted on Truth Social, calling out the Biden-appointed BLS Commissioner, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, for manipulating data both before and after the 2024 election:
“These are the same people who faked the jobs numbers before the election to help Kamala Harris… We need accurate numbers. I have directed my team to fire this Biden political appointee, IMMEDIATELY.”
Trump reminded Americans that his first term delivered record-low unemployment, a booming stock market, energy independence, and strong manufacturing job growth—until the pandemic hit.
Democrats Blame Tariffs—But Ignore Their Own Economic Record
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg joined the finger-pointing, claiming:
“Trump’s reckless tariffs are making Americans worse off—again.”
He noted the loss of 24,000 factory jobs in the last three months.
Left-leaning economists and Democratic allies in the media blamed Trump’s America First policies, claiming his tariff strategy is scaring off investment and slowing job creation.
But Trump supporters argue that Biden’s runaway spending, open-border chaos, energy restrictions, and regulatory overreach are what’s truly strangling the economy.
The Real Numbers Tell a Different Story
- May Jobs Report Revised Down: From 139,000 to just 19,000
- June Jobs Revised: From 147,000 to just 14,000
- Inflation continues to climb, with groceries and fuel costs squeezing retirees and working families
- Small businesses report weaker demand and hiring freezes due to economic uncertainty
Even liberal group “Republicans Against Trump” posted on X:
“So much for the ‘golden age.’”
But conservatives are pushing back, highlighting that Trump’s pre-COVID economy was the strongest in modern history, especially for seniors, veterans, and blue-collar workers.
Looking Ahead: Trump’s Economic Vision vs. Democrat Spin
As we await the August jobs report on September 5, the contrast between Trump’s pro-growth vision and Democrat-led economic excuses becomes clearer by the day.
Trump’s platform includes:
- Tariffs to protect American manufacturing
- Tax relief for small businesses and families
- Energy independence to lower gas and utility prices
- Securing the border to protect U.S. jobs
Biden and Newsom’s model, by contrast, has delivered:
- Rising costs
- Shrinking paychecks
- Job uncertainty
- Sky-high debt
For many Americans—especially seniors living on fixed incomes—the choice is clear: a return to Trump’s prosperity, or more excuses from Democrats in denial.
