Even Obama didn’t expect this.
In a rare moment of honesty from the left, former Obama Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel publicly praised President Donald Trump for achieving what global elites and past administrations failed to do — brokering a lasting peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
Appearing on C-SPAN’s Ceasefire on Friday, Emanuel stunned viewers by admitting,
“President Trump deserves credit for this. Some in my own party won’t admit it — but I will.”
Emanuel, who once served as one of Barack Obama’s closest advisers, went on to say that Trump’s bold leadership “accrues to America’s benefit” and proves that the United States remains the world’s essential power.
“No other country — not Russia, not China — could have done what America just did,” he added. “This shows the world that the United States still leads from strength, not weakness.”
A Democrat Admits Trump’s Strategy Worked
Emanuel also gave credit to Israeli and Palestinian civilians who continued demanding peace, saying their determination helped push leaders to the table.
“They never gave up,” he said. “The public pressure mattered.”
But the former mayor didn’t hold back his respect for Trump’s negotiating skill, calling it “an example of effective American leadership.” Emanuel even challenged the administration to apply similar pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that “Putin is now in a weak position globally.”
“Trump showed he can use leverage effectively,” Emanuel added. “Now the world is watching to see if he’ll do it again.”
Mike Pence Applauds Rahm Emanuel for Speaking Truth
Former Vice President Mike Pence joined Emanuel on the Ceasefire panel and praised him for crossing party lines to give President Trump credit.
“I’m grateful Rahm spoke plainly,” Pence said. “The President’s steadfast support for Israel after the horrors of October 7 and his relentless pursuit of peace deserve recognition.”
Pence recalled visiting communities in Israel that were attacked by Hamas, describing “bullet holes in the walls and blood on the carpets.” He emphasized that Trump’s leadership gave Israel the strength to defend itself while still pursuing peace.
“It takes courage and conviction to stand with Israel and stand for peace,” Pence said. “President Trump did both.”
Trump’s Strength Restores America’s Global Leadership
The peace deal marks a major victory for American diplomacy and a clear reminder that strong leadership delivers results. While past administrations made empty promises, President Trump delivered — restoring stability abroad and respect for the United States worldwide.
Even longtime Democrats are now acknowledging what conservatives already knew: When America leads with strength, the world becomes a safer place.
