Pelosi has a lot of hate for Donald Trump. It’s almost unhealthy.

In a recent podcast interview, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) shared her thoughts on former President Donald Trump, revealing her reluctance to even utter his name. She likened saying “Trump” to using profanity, expressing a kind of superstitious dread about the consequences of invoking his name. “I hardly ever say his name,” Pelosi remarked, suggesting that it carries a weight she finds unsettling.

During her conversation with Jonathan Freedland of The Guardian, she referred to Trump as “what’s-his-name,” clearly indicating her disdain. When pressed for clarification, she confirmed she was indeed speaking about Donald Trump. Drawing on her Catholic upbringing, she quipped about the idea of eternal damnation for uttering bad words, saying, “I don’t want to take any chances.”

Interestingly, Pelosi eventually broke her own rule, reluctantly mentioning Trump while discussing broader issues like democracy and freedom of speech. “When we talk about democracy being on the ballot, it’s a woman’s issue, but it’s an everybody issue. When we talk about freedom of speech, do you see now that Trump is talking…,” she trailed off, then added, “I said his name, oh my gosh. I hope I don’t burn in hell.”

Despite her efforts to distance herself from Trump’s influence, Pelosi’s actions reveal a deeper concern within the Democratic Party about the former president’s enduring impact. Known for her fierce criticism of Trump, she has also been an advocate for Vice President Kamala Harris, reportedly participating in efforts to position Harris as the frontrunner for the 2024 Democratic nomination. This ongoing dynamic highlights the challenges facing Democrats as they navigate the political landscape shaped significantly by Trump’s legacy, while Republicans look to capitalize on the ongoing divisions within the opposition.
