Pelosi needed to hear this.

Nancy Pelosi, a member of the United States House of Representatives, was subjected to heckling by multiple individuals at a speaking engagement in New York. Amidst a chorus of disapproving sounds from the audience, one person went so far as to label her as a “sad, old drunk”.

According to Newsweek, on Monday, Nancy Pelosi attended a speaking event at the City University of New York Graduate Center, where she was joined by Nobel laureate economist Paul Krugman. However, while Pelosi was speaking, multiple protesters in the audience interrupted her with insults. Security was forced to remove one protester, but another immediately stood up and continued to verbally attack the congresswoman.

After the Republican Party won the House in the November 2022 elections, Nancy Pelosi resigned as the House Speaker. Kevin McCarthy, a United States Representative, has since taken over the position that Pelosi held for four years. Pelosi has been the leader of House Democrats since 2003, initially serving as minority leader and later as House Speaker from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. Despite not seeking reelection as a Democratic leader, Pelosi was still the target of criticism at the event on Monday, where attendees shouted questions at her while she sat on stage with Krugman.

“I came to see a warmonger, but you’re a sad, old drunk,” one protester shouted at Pelosi. “What happened? When you went to Taiwan, were you looking for Ukraine? Did we blow up the Nord Stream on accident or on purpose?”

Security quickly bounced the protestor.
