Biden will say anything won’t he?
During a fundraising event in New York City on Monday night, President Joe Biden made an insane accusation against his political rival, former President Donald Trump, and his supporters known as “MAGA Republicans.” According to the Associated Press, Biden stated that they were determined in their efforts to undermine the foundations of American democracy.
Biden conveyed this message to a captivated audience gathered at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, alluding to Donald Trump’s well-known slogan, “Make America Great Again.” He emphasized his unwavering commitment to defending, safeguarding, and fighting for the integrity of American democracy.
In transcript provided by Newsmax, Biden blatantly stated, “Let there be no question, Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy. And I will always defend, protect, and fight for our democracy.”
Within the context of the fundraiser, Biden highlighted the concerning trends he observed, including the emboldening of hate groups, the censorship of books, and the fear instilled in children due to the prevalence of school shootings.
The event, dubbed “Broadway for Biden,” attracted prominent figures and supporters who had purchased tickets ranging from $250 to $7,500. It followed an earlier fundraiser hosted privately by the Black Economic Alliance.
Biden’s presence in New York City was linked to his participation in the United Nations General Assembly, where he joined other world leaders for discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Renowned Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller, known for his involvement in productions such as “Hamilton,” “Rent,” and “In the Heights,” introduced President Biden. Seller expressed the support of the approximately 1,500 attendees, pledging their commitment to preserving and nurturing the essence of American democracy and the nation itself.
Biden’s decision to attend this Broadway event in New York drew attention, especially in light of ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA unions on the west coast, while the 51,000 members of the Actors’ Equity Association union in New York continued to work. While he did not directly address these labor issues, his presence conveyed a sense of solidarity with the unions.
Sources cited by the AP indicated that Biden had received counsel to steer clear of the ongoing strikes and Southern California to maintain his credibility with the union vote. Chris Korge, serving both as the finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee and the chief fundraiser for Biden’s reelection, affirmed Biden’s strong pro-labor stance and asserted that these decisions did not hinder their fundraising efforts.
