This cautionary statement comes in response to previous calls from Texas Democratic Representatives Joaquin Castro and Greg Casar for President Biden to take control of the Texas National Guard if Governor Greg Abbott continued to resist a Supreme Court ruling regarding the removal of razor wire at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The installation of razor wire was part of Governor Abbott’s aggressive measures to curb illegal immigration, a move that has faced criticism from Democrats. Noem disclosed in the interview that her administration is contemplating increased support for Texas in deterring immigration, including sending additional resources such as razor wire and security personnel.
