VIDEO: Top Republican Laughed Out Of Congress

Democrats are downright childish.

Laughter broke out on the House floor on Wednesday as Democrats couldn’t help but react when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), presiding over the chamber, made a request for decorum.

According to The Hill, as House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) delivered remarks on the floor regarding the debt ceiling, a subject of intense negotiations between GOP lawmakers and the White House, the heckling ensued.

While urging the Senate and White House to address the issue of raising the borrowing limit and referring to the bill passed by House Republicans the previous month, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) disrupted the proceedings by accusing Scalise of being dishonest.

Scalise emphasized the proactive stance of their party, stating, “We are, in fact, the only body in this town that has taken concrete measures to tackle the debt ceiling and the spending issue in Washington. I urge the Senate to consider our bill, and I urge the president to actively address this problem. We have already taken action, the votes have been recorded—” Scalise paused momentarily, acknowledging Bowman’s interruption.

According to The Hill, Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s office confirmed that it was indeed the congressman who shouted “liar” while Scalise was delivering his speech.

Greene, presiding over the proceedings, called for order and emphatically struck her gavel on the dais.

Scalise responded, “I request that the House maintain order and that decorum be observed on the other side.”

Following a brief pause, Greene reiterated her call for decorum within the chamber.

“The members are reminded to abide by decorum of the House,” Greene stated.

Laughter erupted among the Democrats in the chamber, with certain members, such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Cori Bush (D-Mo.), standing up and raising their voices in protest.

As the laughter persisted, Greene forcefully pounded her gavel multiple times in an attempt to restore order.
