Her husband is the President of the United States, Republicans need to hold the Biden family accountable.

In a recent interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, First Lady Jill Biden staunchly defended her son, Hunter, against a barrage of attacks from Republicans. Expressing her dismay at what she perceives as “cruelty”, the first lady spoke passionately about Hunter’s resilience in rebuilding his life after battling addiction. She emphasized her love for her son and expressed concern for the impact these relentless allegations have had on her grandchildren.

During the interview, Jill Biden lamented the current state of political discourse in the country, pointing out a noticeable shift in rhetoric over the past decade. She highlighted the stark contrast between the current political climate and the more civil discussions of the past, attributing the change to the rise of extremist viewpoints.

The interview comes on the heels of House Republicans voting to advance a contempt of Congress resolution against Hunter, potentially leading to criminal charges for the president’s son. Hunter had defied subpoenas to testify in a closed-door deposition as part of the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry into his father. The ongoing focus on Hunter’s business dealings by House Republicans has been a recurring theme, reaching its peak during the 2020 election when the Trump campaign highlighted contents from an old laptop, including graphic images.

Hunter also faces federal tax charges and accusations of lying on a federal form related to gun purchases in October 2018. Despite these challenges, President Biden has consistently expressed pride in his son, acknowledging Hunter’s transparency about his struggles with addiction. The White House has maintained that the president was not involved in Hunter’s business affairs.
