Taylor Swift is playing a dirty game with Republicans.
This week, pop star Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris sparked a considerable response, with over 337,000 people clicking on her voter registration link shared on Instagram. Swift’s endorsement came shortly after the presidential debate on Tuesday night, and she used her platform to urge her massive following of 298 million to register to vote. She included a link to vote.org to streamline the registration process for her audience.
According to the General Services Administration, which manages the vote.org website, the number of clicks on Swift’s link surpassed 337,000 by Wednesday afternoon. NBC News reported these numbers, although the GSA had not yet updated the total as of Thursday. Swift’s post emphasized the importance of individual research and decision-making, particularly for first-time voters. She advised her followers to register early and provided a URL for registration and early voting information.
In response to Swift’s political involvement, former President Donald Trump expressed his lack of surprise during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” Trump remarked that Swift’s endorsement of the Democratic Party was expected, given her liberal stance. He implied that her choice to support Kamala Harris was inevitable, especially in light of President Biden’s performance, which he criticized. Trump, who openly admitted he is not a fan of Swift, suggested that her political leanings could have consequences in her career. He also made a playful remark about preferring Brittany Mahomes, the wife of NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is known to be a Trump supporter.
Despite their political differences, Swift and Mahomes were seen together at an NFL game recently, showcasing that personal relationships can sometimes transcend political divides.
