Former President Sounds Alarm About Europe’s Decline, Weak Leadership, and Border Failures

Former President Donald Trump issued one of his strongest warnings yet about America’s traditional allies, arguing that Europe is “decaying” under failed leadership, dangerous immigration policies, and political correctness that has pushed the continent to the brink.

In a wide-ranging interview on Politico’s The Conversation podcast, Trump said many European governments simply “don’t know what to do” as their countries face rising crime, collapsing borders, and a loss of national identity.

Trump: Europe Is “Weak,” Politically Correct, and Losing Control

“I think they’re weak,” Trump said bluntly. “They’re obsessed with being politically correct. Europe doesn’t know what to do anymore.”

Trump’s comments come alongside his administration’s new national security strategy, which warned that Europe is facing a potential “civilizational erasure” due to:

  • Uncontrolled migration overwhelming public systems
  • EU policies undermining national sovereignty
  • Censorship of speech and political opposition
  • Falling birthrates
  • Loss of cultural confidence

The report sent shockwaves across European capitals, with some leaders scrambling to reassure the American public that the continent remains a valued partner.

European Leaders “Freaked Out,” But Trump Isn’t Backing Down

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged Americans to view Europe as “your closest ally,” but Trump said European leaders should be more concerned with their own failures.

“They should be freaked out by what they are doing to their countries,” Trump said. “They’re destroying their countries. You reach a point where you can’t reverse it — and Europe is very close to that point.”

Europe Tries to Appease Trump as Global Tensions Rise

Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has seen a steady parade of European leaders attempting to build goodwill, soften trade disputes, and remain relevant in Washington.

After Trump’s Alaska summit with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin, several European heads of state — along with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte — rushed to the U.S. to help Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky manage his next meeting with Trump.

This week, leaders from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom met again with Zelensky in London over fears that Trump’s peace proposals might offer too many concessions to Moscow.

Trump Praises Hungary and Poland for Defending Their Borders

While Trump avoided direct attacks on most European nations, he singled out Hungary and Poland as examples of strong leadership.

Speaking about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Trump said:

“He’s doing a great job on immigration. His country is landlocked, but he lets nobody in. Most of Europe is decaying.”

Trump Blasts London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan: “A Disaster”

One figure Trump was not shy about condemning was London’s far-left mayor, Sadiq Khan.

“He gets elected because so many people have come in — they vote for him now,” Trump said. He described Khan as a “disaster” and expressed sadness at what he believes mass migration has done to Europe’s iconic cities.

“I hate what’s happened to London. I hate what’s happened to Paris. It’s hard to watch.”
