President Trump Slams Putin as “Crazy,” but His Criticism of Zelenskyy Draws Fire from Within the GOP
In a fiery post on Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump took aim at Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of launching a senseless and brutal wave of attacks on Ukraine.
“Putin has gone absolutely CRAZY! He’s needlessly killing civilians — not just soldiers. These attacks are completely unprovoked,” Trump wrote.
But the President didn’t stop there. He turned his attention to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating, “Everything out of his mouth causes problems. I don’t like it — and it better stop.”
Backlash from GOP: Rep. Don Bacon Pushes Back
The strong words from Trump triggered a sharp rebuke from within his own party.
Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., a former Air Force general and strong supporter of Ukraine, told Fox News, “The first half of that message was perfect. The rest is dumb. Attacking Zelensky while Putin is bombing cities is misguided and makes Trump look weak.”
Bacon warned that mixed messaging could damage President Trump’s leadership image during a volatile global crisis.
“Putin is making a mockery of Trump,” Bacon added, “and Trump keeps aiming at the wrong target.”
Bacon Calls for Maximum Force Against Russia
Bacon has repeatedly called on the U.S. and its allies to respond with overwhelming strength.
“Arm Ukraine to the teeth. Seize every dollar in Russian overseas assets. Crush their economy until Putin backs down.” he wrote on social media. “Peace talks are going nowhere because Putin only respects power.”
His Sunday post added that the U.S. and its allies must show “honesty and resolve” in the face of Russian aggression.
Zelenskyy Sounds the Alarm: Largest Drone Strike Yet
On Monday, President Zelenskyy reported the most intense drone assault since the war began, with over 355 Iranian-made ‘Shahed’ drones and 9 cruise missiles targeting Ukrainian cities overnight.
“Our air defense forces and first responders worked tirelessly,” he said. “There are civilian casualties, and vital infrastructure has been damaged.”
Zelenskyy made an urgent appeal to the international community:
“Russia, like any criminal, will only stop through force. The strength of the United States and its allies is the only thing that can bring peace.”
America First or Endless War?
President Trump’s critics say his words about Zelenskyy undercut U.S. foreign policy. But supporters argue that Trump is asking the hard questions no one else will:
- Why are American taxpayers funding a never-ending war in Europe?
- Shouldn’t we demand accountability from both sides?
- And how long must America pay the price for a conflict 5,000 miles away?
