This is a nightmare.
For their final public appearance, the Jan. 6th Committee has officially announced that former President Donald Trump needed to face criminal charges for his role in the Capitol riot following the election.
According to The Hill, the Jan 6 Panel asked President Biden’s Department of Justice to investigate Trump for inciting an insurrection, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement and obstruction of an official proceeding.
This was the Jan 6 Panel’s final recommendation after holding an 18-month probe into Donald Trump.
Committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson explained, “Faith in our system is the foundation of American democracy. If the faith is broken, so is our democracy. Donald Trump broke that faith. He lost the 2020 election and knew it, but he chose to try to stay in office through a multipart scheme.”
What’s even worse for Trump is that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered harsh words as well and said, “The entire nation knows who is responsible for that day. Beyond that, I don’t have any immediate observations.”
Trump doubled down after the Jan 6 Panel’s final assessment and said that their actions only make him stronger.
“These folks don’t get it that when they come after me, people who love freedom rally around me. It strengthens me. What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger,” Trump wrote.
