Trump is ready to rock and roll.
In an effort to restore law and order at the U.S.-Mexico border, President-elect Donald Trump is set to sign a series of executive orders that will overhaul America’s border and immigration policies. These actions, expected to be announced shortly after his inauguration, represent a bold and decisive step in fulfilling one of his key campaign promises—securing the southern border and curbing illegal immigration.
One of the most significant measures Trump will take is the immediate resumption of border wall construction. This move seeks to undo the policies of the Biden administration, which halted much of the wall’s construction. Additionally, Trump will terminate the controversial parole policies put in place by the Biden administration, which allowed tens of thousands of migrants from countries like Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter the U.S. each month through the CBP One app. This system has been heavily criticized for enabling a chaotic immigration process, and Trump’s orders will aim to restore a more orderly approach to border control.
Further strengthening border security, Trump’s orders will also reinstate the “Remain-in-Mexico” policy, also known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). This Trump-era policy requires migrants to wait in Mexico while their asylum claims are processed, ensuring they don’t slip into the U.S. illegally while their cases are heard. The Biden administration’s reversal of this policy has contributed to the current border crisis, which has seen record levels of illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
Another significant development is the deployment of U.S. military personnel to the southern border. Under a new executive order, Trump will direct U.S. troops to prioritize securing the nation’s borders. The military will work alongside federal law enforcement to ensure that border security remains a top national priority.
Trump’s administration will also target criminal organizations, such as MS-13 and the Tren de Aragua, by designating them as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). This move will allow the U.S. to take stronger action against these groups, which have been flooding the country with illegal drugs, human trafficking, and violent crime. The designation of these cartels as terror organizations is part of a broader effort to safeguard American communities from the national security threats posed by transnational criminal groups.
These initiatives are just the beginning of Trump’s broader plan to overhaul U.S. immigration policy. As part of his border security agenda, Trump has appointed former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan as the “border czar,” tasked with overseeing the enforcement of these policies and leading efforts to remove illegal immigrants from the country. He has also nominated South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security, signaling his commitment to tackling illegal immigration head-on.
The Trump administration’s aggressive stance on border security is a direct response to the chaos and instability that has plagued the U.S.-Mexico border for years. As we look ahead to the coming months, it is clear that securing America’s borders and enforcing our immigration laws will remain at the forefront of Trump’s agenda.
