Here’s what conservatives need to know.
Under the Trump administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are under significant pressure to increase arrests and deportations of illegal immigrants. President Trump has made it clear that he is frustrated with the pace of deportations, feeling that the numbers should be higher, especially in the early weeks of his presidency. Sources close to the situation have revealed that Trump is actively expressing his dissatisfaction with ICE’s performance, pushing key figures like “border czar” Tom Homan, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, and Caleb Vitello to ramp up efforts.
It’s been reported that Trump’s frustration stems from his commitment to swiftly enforcing immigration laws and securing the border, which he has emphasized as a top priority since taking office. According to a White House spokesperson, the Trump administration has been actively working to remove dangerous, criminal illegal immigrants from the United States. Hundreds of violent criminals, gang members, and other illegal aliens have been apprehended and deported, marking a sharp contrast to the chaos and mismanagement that characterized the previous administration’s approach to immigration enforcement.
Tom Homan, a key figure in the enforcement process, has reportedly voiced his dissatisfaction with the deportation numbers during daily calls with ICE agents. A source from within the agency has noted that Homan has expressed unhappiness with the pace of arrests and deportations, emphasizing the urgency to meet set targets. In an attempt to push ICE agents to step up their operations, Vitello instructed agents to aim for a daily quota of 1,200 to 1,400 arrests. However, reports indicate that ICE has been falling short of these expectations, with only 800 arrests recorded on one recent day, and as few as 300 on a weekend.
To meet the president’s ambitious goal of “millions and millions” of deportations, the administration would need to deport over 2,700 immigrants each day to reach one million deportations within a year. While the number of arrests is high, it’s important to note that not all arrests immediately result in deportations, and many are released during the process. The Trump administration is committed to holding lawbreakers accountable and ensuring that illegal immigration is brought under control for the safety and security of American citizens.
