Things are getting ugly.
Ever since rumors started circulating that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was going to run in the 2024 presidential election, him and former President Donald Trump have been butting heads.
Now it appears that Trump and DeSantis’ problems with each other have reached a boiling point and neither one is standing down.
According to The Hill, it all began when Trump took another shot at DeSantis during one of his campaign rallies.
Trump told reporters, “If he runs, that’s fine. I’m way up in the polls. He’s going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run. I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over.”
And now it appears that Governor DeSantis finally responded to Trump’s harsh criticism and simply said, “Check the scoreboard.”
DeSantis taunted Trump by suggesting that he won reelection last year by the biggest margin of any Republican governor in Florida’s history.
“When you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You got to steer that ship. And the good thing is, is that the people are able to render a judgment on that — whether they reelect you or not,” DeSantis added taunting Trump.
DeSantis added, “And I’m happy to say, you know, in my case, not only did we win reelection. We won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida. We won by the largest raw vote margin — over 1.5 million votes — than any governor candidate has ever had in Florida history.”
So far, Ron DeSantis hasn’t said anything about running in 2024 and some political experts believe that DeSantis’ silence is deafening.
The simple fact that both Trump and DeSantis keep attacking each other is a clear indicator that DeSantis is running in 2024. Trump formed a very close relationship with DeSantis while he was the president however after his election loss in 2020 both men appear to want the same thing.
