The Democrats are not happy about this new label whatsoever.

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has launched a new ad targeting Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of failing in her role as the nation’s border overseer and being an ineffective, “dangerously liberal” leader. Released on Tuesday, the ad criticizes Harris, 59, for her handling of illegal immigration and border security, specifically highlighting her perceived shortcomings in managing migration from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

The ad opens with stark criticism: “This is America’s border czar, and she has failed us,” accompanied by footage of Harris dancing at a 2023 event marking hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. This imagery serves to underscore the campaign’s message that Harris is not only ineffective but also disengaged from the serious issues at hand.

Republican critics have long denounced Harris for her role in addressing the root causes of migration, and the ad adopts this critique, linking her to ongoing issues such as fentanyl trafficking and violent crime associated with illegal migrants. It even references the tragic murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, allegedly killed by an illegal migrant, to emphasize the ad’s point about the dangers of inadequate border security.

The ad also points to Harris’ controversial response to an interview question about why she hadn’t visited the US-Mexico border earlier in her tenure. When asked by NBC’s Lester Holt, Harris’s retort that she had not visited Europe either was cited to suggest a lack of seriousness about the border crisis.

Despite Harris’ “Do not come” warning in 2021, federal data shows over 6.3 million crossings occurred, including more than 1 million evading law enforcement. Harris did eventually visit the border and has worked to address migration issues, including securing $5 billion to support the economies of Central American countries.

The ad concludes by branding Harris as “Failed. Weak. Dangerously liberal.” In response, Harris’ campaign has accused Trump of distorting the truth and obstructing effective border solutions. Campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa criticized Trump for undermining a significant bipartisan border deal earlier this year and asserted that Harris, with her extensive experience as a prosecutor and attorney general, has a proven track record of fighting crime and enhancing community safety.

As the Democratic National Convention approaches, Harris’ campaign has rolled out its own ad campaign, emphasizing her “fearless” leadership and achievements. The ad highlights her record as a prosecutor and Attorney General, including securing $20 billion for homeowners and capping insulin costs for seniors. It positions Harris as a defender of progress, contrasting sharply with Trump’s agenda of rolling back healthcare reforms and favoring tax breaks for the wealthy.

The advertising battle reflects the intensifying rhetoric as both sides prepare for the upcoming election cycle, with each campaign striving to define their candidate’s image and achievements in the face of strong partisan opposition.
