This was a surprising move by Trump.

Former President Donald Trump is shifting his strategy on mail-in ballots with a new initiative aimed at Pennsylvania voters. Just four years after criticizing mail-in voting as fraught with fraud and a factor in his 2020 election loss, Trump is now embracing this method to mobilize his base in the Keystone State.

On Tuesday, Trump’s campaign unveiled SwampTheVoteUSA.com, a dedicated platform designed to streamline the mail-in ballot process for rural Pennsylvanians. This site, which the campaign describes as a groundbreaking tool, allows voters to request mail-in ballots directly through a secure connection with the Pennsylvania Department of State, avoiding potential confusion from other online sources.

Michael Whatley, Chair of the Republican National Committee, endorsed the new site, highlighting its potential to expedite the mail-in ballot process. According to Whatley, Trump has always supported voting by mail as a viable option, on par with traditional voting methods such as in-person polling and absentee ballots.

“Our new Swamp The Vote website will enhance accessibility and security for Pennsylvania voters, making it easier than ever for them to cast their ballots for President Trump,” Whatley asserted. He emphasized that this development represents a key component of their strategic efforts to return Trump to the White House and safeguard American values.

Whatley and RNC co-chair Lara Trump detailed their strategy during a June visit to Bucks County, focusing on how promoting mail-in ballots can counteract the Democrats’ early voting edge. They are leveraging this approach to ensure a robust turnout among Republican voters.

In the aftermath of the 2020 election, Trump challenged the legitimacy of mail-in votes counted after Election Day, particularly in Democratic strongholds. Despite these challenges, courts across swing states, including Pennsylvania, rejected claims of widespread fraud due to insufficient evidence.

As Trump adjusts his stance on mail-in ballots, his campaign aims to harness this method to its advantage, reflecting a strategic pivot in response to evolving electoral dynamics.
