Trump is not playing any games.
President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the crisis at the southern border, signaling his readiness to declare a national emergency and use military resources to carry out a large-scale deportation operation once he takes office in 2025. Trump’s comments came in response to a post on Truth Social by Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, who revealed that the president-elect plans to reverse the disastrous policies of the Biden administration through a national emergency declaration, potentially involving military assets for deportations.
Trump’s readiness to act on this critical issue should come as no surprise to his supporters. During his 2024 campaign, he made it clear that restoring order at the border and removing illegal immigrants would be a top priority. In a bold statement last September, he vowed to launch “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history” modeled after the successful strategies of the Eisenhower administration, which effectively removed millions of illegal immigrants in the 1950s.
As part of his comprehensive approach, Trump has pledged to invoke the Alien Enemies Act to target dangerous criminals, including gang members, drug dealers, and cartel operatives, who have unlawfully entered the U.S. In addition to deportation efforts, he has also proposed using military assets and the U.S. Navy to enforce a “fentanyl blockade” along American waters to combat the ongoing drug crisis.
Trump’s plan has already begun to take shape. His team has been in talks with private prison companies about expanding detention facilities, and they are preparing to ramp up deportation efforts immediately. To oversee the operation, Trump has appointed former acting ICE Director Tom Homan as the “border czar” and tapped Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota to head the Department of Homeland Security.
However, Trump’s efforts will face strong resistance from Democrat-led states. Governors like Massachusetts’ Maura Healey and Illinois’ J.B. Pritzker have pledged to obstruct federal immigration enforcement within their states. Despite this, Pritzker acknowledged that federal authorities still have the power to carry out operations within Illinois, even if local authorities refuse to cooperate.
For Trump, the mandate given by voters in the 2024 election is clear: enforce the law, secure the border, and prioritize the safety and well-being of American citizens. His bold promises for a new direction on immigration are a testament to his determination to restore order and sovereignty to the nation.
