This was very unexpected.
In a shocking admission, New York City’s Democrat Mayor Eric Adams is now praising President Donald Trump for securing the U.S. southern border—after years of chaos and fiscal disaster under Joe Biden’s failed immigration agenda.
Adams: Trump Stopped the Invasion
Speaking on Pod Force One with columnist Miranda Devine, Adams acknowledged what many conservatives have been saying for years:
“Thanks to the Trump administration’s efforts to secure the border, we’re no longer seeing the massive influx of migrants,” Adams said. “It’s brought significant relief to the city.”
Under Biden’s open-border policies, tens of thousands of migrants poured into New York City, overwhelming local shelters, schools, and emergency services.
$7.7 Billion Price Tag for Biden’s Border Failure
Adams revealed that Biden’s immigration policies cost New York taxpayers $7.7 billion over three years. That massive price tag drained city funds and diverted critical resources away from crime prevention, education, and senior services.
“Seven billion dollars went to the crisis. It was completely unsustainable,” Adams said.
Despite multiple appeals to the Biden administration, Adams said his concerns were ignored by White House insiders who insisted “everything was under control.”
Trump’s Return Brought Relief to NYC
Adams credited President Trump with halting the migrant surge. Since Trump resumed his leadership, weekly arrivals have plummeted to fewer than 100 asylum seekers—down from a staggering 4,000 per week under Biden.
“The flow finally stopped once the border was secured,” Adams admitted.
ICE Is Not the Enemy—Says NYC’s Democrat Mayor
Mayor Adams defended U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) against progressive attacks. He called ICE a legitimate federal law enforcement agency and said the city has worked closely with them to remove violent illegal immigrants.
“We must stop labeling ICE as some kind of rogue agency. They’re enforcing the law,” Adams said.
Over 237,000 Migrants Flooded Into NYC Since 2022
Since Biden opened the border floodgates, New York City has processed over 237,000 illegal migrants, converting over 100 hotels into emergency shelters. At one point, the city was absorbing 4,000 migrants per week.
Adams said the city had to quickly build a shelter system, educate 50,000 migrant children, and provide food, housing, and clothing—all while still recovering from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic.
“This was an enormous burden on our taxpayers and city staff,” Adams explained.
Was Adams Targeted for Criticizing Biden?
Adams also hinted that a politically motivated investigation into him was launched after he repeatedly criticized Biden’s handling of immigration.
While the case was later dropped after review by Trump’s Justice Department, Adams believes it may have been retaliation from Biden’s team.
“Do I believe Biden gave the order directly? No. But I do believe his people acted on their own,” Adams said.
Trump’s Leadership Gets Results—Even Liberals Admit It
Despite their political differences, Adams acknowledged the simple truth: President Trump delivered results on immigration. His firm stance on border security brought relief not just to red states—but even to deep-blue cities like New York.
Adams’ praise serves as a rare but powerful moment of bipartisan recognition. When liberal mayors start thanking Trump for saving their cities, it’s clear: America is safer, stronger, and more secure under President Donald J. Trump.
