Trump wants results.

President Donald Trump is delivering on his promise to rein in bloated government spending. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has just announced a massive restructuring that includes thousands of job cuts and the closure of its research and development division—saving taxpayers a staggering $748.8 million.

The EPA confirmed that 23% of its workforce will be eliminated, with over 3,700 employees either retiring, resigning, or being laid off since January. The agency’s staff will shrink from 16,155 to 12,448—one of the most dramatic downsizes in modern history.

“This is about putting America first,” said EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re finally holding Washington accountable. We’re cutting waste, saving money, and staying laser-focused on the EPA’s core mission—protecting our environment and our citizens.”

The biggest target in this cost-cutting effort is the Office of Research and Development, a department long criticized for wasteful spending and bureaucratic overreach. The EPA says it will redirect scientific expertise to frontline programs focused on clean air, clean water, and regulatory enforcement.

A new Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions will replace the outdated research division. According to the agency, this change will put real-world science at the heart of every EPA decision—while keeping costs in check.

Of course, federal employee unions are up in arms. Justin Chen, a union leader, called the restructuring “devastating.” But many Americans see this as a common-sense reform that’s been needed for decades.

“President Trump is keeping his word,” said one retired EPA engineer. “The deep state is finally being held accountable—and taxpayers are winning.”

This overhaul comes just weeks after a major Supreme Court ruling cleared the path for Trump’s plan to shrink the federal workforce. With this ruling, more agencies are expected to follow the EPA’s lead.

For seniors and working Americans alike, this is a win. Less waste in Washington means more freedom, more prosperity, and more respect for your hard-earned tax dollars.
