Trump Wins Over Young Americans

The future might have a fighting chance.

President Donald Trump is gaining unexpected momentum with Gen Z voters, creating a political shift that could reshape future elections — and send Democrats into full-blown panic mode.

A brand-new Economist/YouGov poll shows Trump’s approval rating among Americans ages 18 to 29 rising sharply. While his numbers are still negative with this group, his net approval jumped from a devastating –55 points in October to –34 points in November — a dramatic improvement in just one month.

This shift echoes what we saw in the 2024 election, when millions of young voters quietly broke with the Democratic Party and helped deliver Trump a decisive victory. According to AP VoteCast, Gen Z support for the Democrat candidate collapsed from 61% in 2020 to just 51% in 2024.

For a party already fighting low enthusiasm, the trend is nothing short of disastrous.

Gen Z Begins Walking Away from Democrats

Just months ago, Democrats were celebrating polls showing Trump deeply underwater with younger Americans. But recent surveys show a very different reality: Gen Z is no longer falling in line.

In September, Trump’s net approval among this age group sat at –40. In October, during the government shutdown, it dropped further. Yet once the shutdown ended and the focus returned to real-life concerns like inflation and jobs, Trump’s numbers quickly rebounded.

By November:

  • 29% of young adults approved of Trump
  • 63% disapproved
  • Net approval improved to –34

And this isn’t the only poll showing movement.

AtlasIntel found in July that 35% of Gen Z approved of Trump. By September, that number surged to 49% approval — giving Trump a positive net rating among younger adults for the first time.

Why Young Americans Are Taking a Second Look at Trump

Experts point to the same kitchen-table issues affecting older voters:

✔ Grocery prices are still rising

✔ Jobs feel less secure

✔ Rent and housing costs are out of control

✔ Americans see no plan from Democrats to fix any of it

A University College Dublin professor told Newsweek that economic “disruption” and frustration with the direction of the country are weighing heavily on younger voters. If these issues continue, Democrats may experience significant losses in the 2026 midterm elections, where Republicans currently hold a narrow majority.

Trump Responds to Media’s ‘Fake Polls’

Despite his improvement with young voters, the mainstream media continues pushing surveys claiming Trump’s approval is falling. One recent Economist/YouGov poll put his overall approval at 39 percent.

Trump immediately blasted the skewed results on Truth Social:

“So many Fake Polls are being shown by the Radical Left Media… Fake News will never change. They are evil and corrupt.”

Then he delivered the punchline that infuriated the Left:

“As I look around my beautiful surroundings, I say to myself, ‘Oh look, I’m sitting in the Oval Office!’”

It was a classic Trump moment — confident, unfiltered, and a reminder of why his supporters trust him more than the establishment media.

What This Means for 2026

As Trump’s second term continues, approval ratings will rise and fall across various age groups. But one fact stands out: Gen Z is shifting right — and Democrats know it.

If this trend continues, the GOP could expand its House majority in the 2026 midterms, further strengthening Trump’s America First agenda.
