Trump will weather any storm.
President Donald J. Trump is standing firm. Despite forecasts of thunderstorms and media pressure, his massive military parade in Washington, D.C. will go forward to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army—and the Commander-in-Chief’s 79th birthday.
The event, expected to draw thousands of proud Americans, comes at a time when American strength is under attack from within and abroad. But Trump says nothing will stop the celebration of our troops.
“No matter what, this historic tribute to our armed forces will happen,” said White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly.
Weather Won’t Stop the Show of Strength
According to Fox Weather, Saturday’s forecast shows possible thunderstorms late in the afternoon and into the evening. But military officials say they’re prepared.
“Rain doesn’t stop tanks,” said Army spokesman Steve Warren. “But lightning is a safety issue. We’ll monitor conditions closely, but we’re moving forward unless it’s truly unsafe.”
The Department of Defense deferred questions to the U.S. Army and the America 250 Commission, who have not yet indicated any changes.
A Powerful Display of American Might
Already this week, rows of military tanks have rolled into D.C. Over 150 combat vehicles, 6,500 U.S. troops, and 50 aircraft are set to take part in the evening spectacle.
Following the parade will be a patriotic concert and fireworks show on The Ellipse—right behind the White House.
Trump: “This Parade Is Worth Every Penny”
Though some critics on the left have complained about the cost—estimated between $25 million and $45 million—President Trump has no regrets.
“It’s peanuts,” he told NBC News. “We’re showing the world our power. The best tanks. The best submarines. The best missiles. No one compares to the United States Military.”
Trump’s supporters agree: It’s time to bring back American pride, and this celebration is exactly what the nation needs.
