Is this the left’s new leader?

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) recently voiced concerns about President Donald Trump’s stance on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, accusing him of “selling out” Ukraine to Russia in his efforts to bring an end to the war. Speaking to CNN’s Erin Burnett, Moulton was asked about Trump’s willingness to label Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator, while refraining from such criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moulton’s response was clear: “Trump is selling out Ukraine to Russia, and it’s an astonishing turn of events.” He highlighted the remarkable resilience of Ukraine, noting that despite early predictions of a quick Russian victory, Ukraine has managed to resist for over three years. The war, initially dismissed by many as an unlikely event, has become a prolonged struggle, and Moulton expressed disbelief that the U.S. is now considering siding with Russia in this conflict.

While President Trump has long emphasized the importance of ending the war, his position on Ukraine has shifted notably. Unlike President Biden, who has consistently supported Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty, Trump has taken a different approach. He has blamed Zelensky for the conflict and suggested that the war would never have occurred if he were still in office. Trump’s comments on Zelensky have been harsh, calling him a dictator and accusing him of poor leadership. Trump’s decision to engage in peace talks with Russia and strengthen his ties with Putin has raised concerns, not only regarding the situation in Ukraine but also about broader global implications, particularly with China.

Moulton expressed shock at what he sees as an unexpected betrayal, stating, “No one could have imagined that a U.S. president would side with Russia over Ukraine.” The shift in American policy under Trump has sparked serious debates about the future of U.S. foreign relations and its role in global security.
