Democrats know they are facing a major uphill battle when it comes to the 2022 midterm elections. Now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has just got the news that another House Democrat is retiring from Congress.
According to Politico, California Democrat Rep. Alan Lowenthal is not going to seek re-election in 2022. This makes Lowenthal the fourth California US House Representative to leave Congress just before the midterms.
Speaker Pelosi and President Biden and probably deeply concerned about what is to come.
Lowenthal explained that he has no plans to pursue his sixth term in Congress and wants to “pass the baton” so he can spend time with his kids and family.
Furthermore, Democrats Rep. Jackie Speier, Rep. Karen Bass and Rep. Peter DeFazio will also be stepping away from Congress to pursue other positions.
Republicans and political pundits have been long predicting that the 2022 midterm elections was going to be a red wave for Republicans and as we get closer it is only becoming more clear.
Currently, President Biden has a number of issues that he has to deal with and nothing is getting resolved.
