Some MAGA patriots are very upset. Here’s why.
In a bombshell statement, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene—a prominent MAGA figure and longtime Trump ally—accused President Donald Trump of reversing his 2024 campaign promise to keep America out of foreign wars. Her sharp criticism follows U.S. military strikes on Iran that she warns could ignite a devastating World War III.
Greene Slams Trump for Backing Military Action in Iran
Speaking with Steve Bannon on his War Room podcast, Greene didn’t hold back.
“We’re six months into Trump’s presidency, and already we’re turning our backs on campaign promises,” Greene said. “We bombed Iran—on behalf of Israel. Now the entire world is on the brink of nuclear war.”
The firebrand congresswoman, a consistent voice against foreign entanglements, warned that Israel’s military actions have pulled the United States into a “hot war,” endangering American lives and setting the stage for global chaos.
Trump Supporters Furious Over Escalation in the Middle East
The strikes have sparked concern among Trump’s most loyal base, including conservatives who supported him precisely because he vowed to end endless wars and bring peace to hotspots like Gaza and Ukraine.
Greene questioned whether the administration is truly standing by its America First principles—or giving in to globalist pressure.
“This feels like a bait-and-switch to please the neocons, warmongers, and the military-industrial complex,” she wrote on Facebook. “These are the same people MAGA voters rejected in 2016 and 2020.”
Conservative Civil War: Greene vs. the GOP Establishment
Greene also turned her fire on so-called “conservative” figures like Fox News host Mark Levin and Senator Lindsey Graham, accusing them of pushing the U.S. into dangerous conflicts abroad.
“I’ve spent five years and millions of dollars defending Trump and the MAGA movement,” she said. “I represent real America First values. Not Mark Levin. Not these neocon suck-ups.”
Her message resonated with many in the conservative grassroots, who are growing increasingly uneasy with recent foreign policy decisions.
Trump Sends Mixed Signals on Iran Policy
President Trump further fueled controversy by posting on Truth Social, seemingly embracing regime change in Iran—despite earlier denials from his own Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“It’s not politically correct to say ‘Regime Change,’” Trump wrote, “but if the Iranian regime can’t MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be regime change?? MIGA!!!”
The statement triggered alarm among non-interventionist conservatives who fear this rhetoric undermines Trump’s America First platform.
Massie and Greene Under Fire from Trump and GOP Hawks
Trump also lashed out at Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, calling him a “simple-minded grandstander” who doesn’t represent the MAGA movement. Massie, a vocal opponent of foreign wars, is co-sponsoring a War Powers Resolution with Democrat Ro Khanna to limit presidential authority on military strikes.
“MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him,” Trump wrote of Massie.
Greene has not confirmed whether she will support the resolution, but her latest comments suggest she may be leaning in that direction.
War Powers Fight Heating Up in Congress
The resolution is gaining traction, with bipartisan support building in both chambers. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) said Monday that several Republicans are prepared to back his version in the Senate.
Meanwhile, 12 Democrat House members—all military veterans—are drafting their own resolution to require congressional approval for any future strikes in the Middle East.
Is MAGA Losing Its Anti-War Soul?
The America First movement is at a crossroads. As military tensions rise and political loyalties shift, many in the MAGA base are asking hard questions:
- Are we still the party of peace through strength?
- Or are we slipping back into the trap of endless war?
For millions of conservative Americans, the answer could shape not just the future of the Republican Party—but the future of the country itself.
