What a strange video.

Following her loss to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris posted a video message to her supporters that has left many questioning not just her ability to lead, but the broader direction of the Democratic Party.

The video, which was shared by the Democratic Party’s official account on X (formerly Twitter), featured Harris addressing her followers with a message meant to rally them in the wake of the election results. “I want to remind you, do not let anyone take away your power from you,” Harris said, urging people not to feel disempowered by the outcome. “You still have the same strength that you did before Nov. 5, and you have the exact same purpose that you did.”

However, her message did not seem to land well. Instead of inspiring her base, it sparked a wave of skepticism and criticism online, particularly from conservative voices who questioned both her leadership and the Democratic Party’s messaging.

Fox News contributor Joe Concha responded with a sense of disbelief, tweeting, “I am not confident you people want to be amplifying this. There is something off with Kamala.” National Review’s Dan McLaughlin added, “No clip like this would’ve ever have been published by a lawmaker who is not despised by her staff.”

Republicans weren’t the only ones questioning the video’s tone and timing. The Republican Committee of Prince William County remarked, “The joy is gone,” while former Trump White House advisor Ben Williamson tweeted, “I’d read a 5,000-word article on how this got approved for release.”

Many conservatives also found it telling that Harris was sharing such a message after what many viewed as a devastating loss to Donald Trump. “Who thought this was a good idea?” Atlantic contributor Tyler Austin Harper questioned. “What is she even saying?”

This latest public display by Kamala Harris only further underscores the deepening crisis of confidence within the Democratic Party, as they face another defeat under the leadership of Joe Biden and his vice president. The video, more than anything, serves as a reminder that the current Democratic leadership is struggling to connect with voters, and their inability to inspire has opened the door for Republicans to continue their momentum heading into 2024.
