Liberal Media Meltdown as Trump Sends National Guard to Stop D.C. Crime Wave
CNN anchor Dana Bash triggered a firestorm on Monday after claiming the January 6 Capitol protest was “the most violent moment in recent history” in Washington, D.C. — a remark critics say is part of the network’s ongoing war against President Donald Trump and his supporters.
Bash’s statement came just hours after Trump took bold federal action to restore safety in the nation’s capital. The President announced he would federalize Washington D.C. police forces and deploy the National Guard to fight soaring violent crime — a move widely praised by law-and-order advocates but condemned by the liberal media.
While covering Trump’s plan, Bash suddenly pivoted to January 6, declaring:
“The most violent moment in recent history in D.C. was January 6th… in the name of Donald Trump.”
Her comments immediately sparked backlash online, with critics pointing out that Washington, D.C. has seen record homicide rates and destructive riots in recent years that far surpass January 6 in scope and violence.

Facts the Media Won’t Tell You:
- 274 homicides in 2023 — a 20-year high.
- BLM riots in 2020 set streets ablaze and attacked the White House perimeter.
- The only person killed at the Capitol as a direct result of January 6 was Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed Trump supporter.
“The only time Dana Bash gets passionate about D.C. crime is when she can tie it to January 6,” said NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck.
Radio host Ryan Schuiling called Bash’s comments “factually absurd,” reminding viewers that Officer Brian Sicknick died of a stroke the next day and was not beaten to death as claimed by some media outlets.
Ohio journalist Walter Curt blasted the hypocrisy: “There have been 14 homicides in D.C. this month alone. CNN is a JOKE.”
Even MSNBC joined in pushing the January 6 narrative. NBC’s Jonathan Allen told viewers it was the “greatest threat” in recent memory and accused Trump of “rehiring” those involved — claims critics say ignore the daily violence on D.C.’s streets.
President Trump, however, remains focused on his mission to protect Americans. His law-and-order crackdown in D.C. — including National Guard deployment and police federalization — sends a clear message: violent crime will not be tolerated, and the safety of citizens comes first.
